For you who haven’t know yet, Marriage is possible in Skyrim! It must be fun right, after doing so much hardcore job across skyrim, and now it’s time to do some love love thing by a Skyrim marriage. It will be some extra achievement for you if you’re able to marry one of the lovely npc you like. So how’s Skyrim marriage work? And how to do Skyrim marriage thing? I will tell you down here.
There are several things you must do to trigger a Skyrim marriage. First is to get Amulet of Mara. To get amulet of mara for skyrim marriage, you can do this thing:
Buy it from Maramel for 200 gold. Maramel can be found either at the Bee and Bard or the Temple of Mara in Riften. This is the easiest to get the amulet.
Looted from Kematu located in Swindler’s Den
You can found one in a tent on a beach North of Dawnstar
There’s one in a chest at the beginning of the main quest line in Break Falls Barrow
Random loot during The Book of Love quest by Dinya Balu in Riften
A chance that the amulet will be in a chest at the final room of Reachcliff Cave
After obtaining the amulet of mara for Skyrim marriage, you can get some npc that you wanted to marry if you have done the quest(s) relating to them. Start a conversation with them and there will be an option to marry him or her. Note that you can trigger a homosexual marriage -_-
After asking the npc for a Skyrim marriage, now you must go to Temple of Mara in Riften and talk to Maramal about the planned wedding. Wait for 24 hours and reenter the temple, your soon-to-be wife will be at the altar. You must go through all the wedding ceremony. If you headed out during the ceremony, the marriage will then cancelled and your ex soon-to-be wife will get mad at you forever
Soon after finishing the Skyrim marriage ceremony, congratz! You are a couple. You can ask your wife about your marital house. You are free to chose to live at your house or your couple house. It still can be changed later, don’t worry. After making the decision, each time you’re going to the house, your wife / husband will be there.
The benefit of Skyrim marriage is that your life partner will give you some additional bonus. If you sleep with them, you will get a “Lover’s Comfort” buff (15% increase in all upgrades for 8 hours), and he/she will give you 100 gold a day. And one of the best is, they will cook you a homemade meal (aww so sweet) that will increase your health, magicka, and stamina for limited time.
